What to expect and what you will need:

Beginners Class at Emersons Green Village Hall, Emersons Green, Bristol.

Hi, my name is Gabrielle and I live locally. I have been dancing for around 25 years having started learning with a Turkish lady based in Bristol who taught very energetic Turkish belly dance.
I then changed to learning the Egyptian style which is more elegant and flowing and later on became interested in a style called Tribal Fusion.  Since then I have studied with Keti Sharif (based in Australia) to learn her A to Z system and moved on to study Gypsy Caravan dance which is very different but just as much fun.  However, all these styles of dance use hip movements to some degree.
I always try to use happy, upbeat music and hope to send you home with a smile and a wiggle!

Bellymixtures is a fusion style of dance based on middle eastern moves (belly dance).
However, belly dance is not just what people see when on holiday and includes many different styles.
I teach moves from the following styles:
  • Egyptian
  • Keti Sharif - A to Z (a different combination of moves for each letter of the alphabet)
  • Gypsy Caravan (more earthy and grounded)
  • Other styles are included depending on the music being used, including Bollywood, Rock, Classical - in fact anything you can think of really.
During the warm-up and cool-down sessions, I incorporate elements of the Tripudio Movement System.
This is a system designed to ensure that the lymph system in the body is kept moving and gently stretched.

There are no special clothes required (although you may acquire a fondness for all thinks sparkly in future).
What to wear: soft soled shoes or slipper socks (no trainers), loose clothing (t-shirt or comfortable top, joggers or a full skirt (gypsy style).
Bring water,  enthusiasm and a smile!
